SINGAPORE AIRLINES FIRST CLASS LOUNGE REVIEW

As First Class Lounges goes, this is about as exclusive as it gets. In fact, it’s so exclusive that very few people even know it exists. The uber cool Private Room is an invitation only area located within the confines of Singapore Airlines’ stunning new First Class Lounge. On a recent flight back from Singapore, we were lucky enough to receive one such coveted invite to experience First Class travel at its best even before leaving the tarmac.

The star treatment starts on arrival at Terminal 3, where a private driveway leads you to a dedicated First Class only check-in reception complete with porters to assist with your luggage… a rather nice touch. The service staff then ushered us through the most effortless of check-ins and on through to the exclusive First Class Immigration Lane, conveniently located just steps away.  Within 8 minutes I was in the lounge. If only air travel was always this easy!

At 4,000m2, the entire SilverKris Lounge is a large facility that’s separated into three sections:  Business Class, First Class and the discretely located Private Room - which would be my resting place for the next two hours. So let’s go inside…

From the moment you enter, The Private Room exudes elegance and luxury. The walls are adorned with Italian marble and rich timber and the room contains sumptuous furnishings reminiscent of the most exclusive of lodges.  Extra high ceilings also give a real sense of space. Full-length windows allow plenty of natural light in and a close up view of the happenings outside. I’d imagine that even the most discerning of travellers would be hard pressed to fault this environment. The room layout is cleverly designed to ensure the utmost privacy with lavish seating zones scattered throughout. The usual facilities you would expect are all there… shower facilities, WIFI in all areas, computer workstations - but it was the private dining area that really impressed. It’s like stepping inside an intimate fine dining establishment. Think parquet wooden floors, leather banquettes or a quiet table for two dressed in crisp white linen and with the 5-star service to match, French Champagne to start and an à la carte menu featuring a small, well-balanced selection, including fois gras and lightly poached lobster. The only dilemma is not over eating and spoiling your appetite for the First Class in-flight service to come.

Singapore Airlines’ fabulous Private Room at Terminal 3 really does take the complete First Class experience to a whole new level. If you’re fortunate enough to receive an invite, arrive early for your flight so you can take your time to fully appreciate the facilities on offer
