InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort
STYLE

Welcome to InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, where acclaimed designer Bill Bensley had complete freedom to make a statement. The result? A “whimsical realm” that brings Vietnamese temple architecture and bold black-and-white finishes to life. Vibrant yellows, oranges and greens pop against dramatic lacquered walls. Every corner reveals a new surprise with lotus motifs carved into doors, to cleverly hidden monkey sculptures. Bensley’s attention to detail is remarkable: entire buildings echo the shape of traditional temples, while modern touches - like the new BENSLEY Outsider Gallery and a clever Digital Design Tour add fresh ways to explore this captivating design masterpiece. It’s theatrical yet deeply rooted in local heritage and seeing it in person feels like stepping into a grand, living work of
art.

LOCATION

Though it’s just a 30 minute drive from Da Nang International Airport, the property feels remote on Son Tra Peninsula’s forested slopes. Four levels: Heaven, Sky, Earth and Sea cascade from hilltop to beachfront, each boasting unique vantage points. The resort’s canopy is home to critically endangered red-shanked douc langurs, which the InterContinental protects with “monkey bridges” strung among the treetops.

CLIENTELE
You’ll meet honeymooners and couples on their dream getaway, families making the most of the newly added four-bedroom villas and design enthusiasts chasing every flamboyant Bill Bensley element. Despite the resort’s scale, it never feels crowded. It’s cleverly designed so that you can always find a quiet lounge, courtyard or a hidden nook for reading or reflection.

FACILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Hop aboard the Nam Tram funicular to glide between tiers, passing panoramic vistas of the jungle and the sea. Down by the beach, you'll find the Garden Pool and the Kids' Pool. Additionally, the L_O_N_G Pool, a 50-meter-long infinity pool, is located above the L_O_N_G Bar, offering elevated beachfront views. The pool villas themselves feature an oversized infinity pool with large torches lit at night, perfect for a golden hour swim. If you’re feeling adventurous, join a guided nature tour to spot the douc langurs or if you’re wanting to burn off those well earned calories the property boasts a high tech indoor-outdoor fitness center. The spa’s wellness concept invites you to unwind in lagoon villas, complete with holistic treatments and calm waterside settings. For rainy days and a dash of fun, there’s even a banana-hued private cinema hidden away, showing classic movies in quirky Bensley style.

ROOMS
Our first 2 nights were in the Club Terrace Suite Panoramic Ocean View, blending the property’s contemporary black-and-white aesthetic with stunning Vietnamese accents. Having the Club InterContinental Lounge so close meant we could easily grab a cold drink or a quick bite. On our final night, we moved to a One-Bedroom Seaside Villa on the Beach, complete with a generously sized beachfront infinity pool. The newly unveiled four-bedroom pool villas are ideal for multi-generational families or groups who want more space and privacy without sacrificing the resort’s signature flair.

FOOD & DRINK
Dining is a highlight and the food skyrocketed our expectations - there are certainly choices for everyone. Citron stuns with its famous conical hat pods overlooking the bay, serving Vietnamese favorites and international dishes. Michelin-starred La Maison 1888 blends French finesse with Indochine flair in an opulent colonial-era villa, featuring an impressive open kitchen - an absolute must for foodies. The latest addition, Tingara, by Michelin-starred chef Junichi Yoshida, offers exquisite Japanese gastronomy. For all-day tea and cocktails, the Club Lounge is a peaceful go to spot featuring hilltop views from the property’s “Heaven” level. Down on the beach, we loved the Saturday night Bonfire Buffet at Barefoot - fresh local seafood grilled in the open air, live cooking stations and a totally relaxed vibe, one of our favourite resort experiences.

FOR KIDS
The Planet Trekkers kids’ club is more than just a play area, staff teach children how to respect local wildlife, especially the curious monkeys roaming the resort. There are plenty of activities like arts and crafts or mini cooking classes, so youngsters get a fun mix of education and entertainment.

SERVICE

The service is always warm and helpful, with a clear attention to detail. From the moment we stepped into the spectacular reception pavilion, staff greeted us like friends returning home. Our personal butler, Hero, seemed to anticipate our needs, whether it was helping us choose the perfect breakfast at our One-Bedroom Seaside Villa on the Beach or helping us capture a sunset photo. The property’s teams - housekeeping, waitstaff and management alike go the extra mile.

WE LOVE
-
The property’s design is nothing short of a masterpiece - one of the coolest resort designs we have ever seen.
-
The four tiered layout creates a sense of openness, seamlessly guiding you hilltop down to a white sand beach, with the Nam Tram funicular making it fast and convenient.
-
Incredible food options - there is no need to eat outside of the resort.
